Ok, first things first, apply the handbrake!

Ten years after this workshop was put together I have started to add tips that have been picked up over the last decade.

My First Tip is this:
If you are trying to UNDO a nut or a screw, whatever the size and it will not budge, sometimes after applying lubricant try TIGHTENING it a bit first.
This can sometimes 'crack' off the gunk which is stopping you from undoing it.
You have to be careful not to break it off so the 'doing it up a bit' option is only that, an option but I have found it help in a lot of cases.

Next, remove the earth lead from the battery!!! Very important.ru need to, get more than one container and put bits from the grill in one and the other bits in other marked containers, this way you will know what goes where when you come to put it all back together.

Then find an oil catchment container and place it under the engine sump, undo one of the sump plugs untill it is about to come out and make sure the oil catching container is in place then very carefully take it out trying not to get your arm covered in oil, (remember the oil comes out in a spurt up to a foot long!!) the oil flow when the plug is first taken out is fast and slows down as it empty's so keep an eye on it as you might need to move the container. Once empty replace the sump plug.

REMEMBER to dispose of your used oil safely, not down the drain.

The next job is to remove the front Grill, this is attached by crosshead screws and sometimes 8-10mm head bolts, remove these and slide the grill unit out. Remember to use WD40 if the fittings are being awkward to remove.

Once the grill is removed you can remove the light surrounds, again there are cross head screws and bolts holding them to the vehicle, sizes depend on what they are fitted with. Remove the indicator wiring, usually two wires with pull apart fittings each side.

Next remove the two stay bars in front of the radiator, each has a bolt at the top and bottom, they might be encapsulated (nuts welded to vehicle fitting) or have nuts on the reverse side, so you might need two spanners, 13mm I think.

Recommended tools for the job.

Oil catchment container

Various cross head and flat head screwdrivers.

8mm, 10mm, 13mm ring and open ended spanners.

Socket set with 8mm to 13mm sockets.
