Here we are then, just about to pull the engine out from the front angle, the hoist is in place the trolly jack is in place with a piece of wood between it and the engine sump.

Raising the vehicle off the ground and placing on axle stands is NOT recomended - This only increases the distance from the ground to the base of the engine making the whole assembly unstable.

When pulling the engine out you need to work with the hoist and the jack at the same time, so two people is a good idea, three is better as you can have someone in the cab pushing and checking for snagging cables.

With a gentle but forcefull rocking and pulling motion we slid out the engine on the jack and the hoist, be carefull as it is about 500kg in weight and can swing about, just take your time and keep a beady eye out for any wires or cables that could impead the removal, for example, earth straps, speedo cable, throttle cable, exhauster pipe, wiring loom etc.

You can see in the above photo the passengerside engine mounting is nearly clear of the chassis. The otherside was taken off as we removed the engine to give us a little more play.

Recomended tools for the job.
